The new MINI John Cooper Works GP will reach US showrooms mid 2020 with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $44,900 plus an additional $850 Destination & Handling fee.
With an engine output of 301hp (US SAE), and achieving a lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife of less than eight minutes, the new MINI John Cooper Works GP will come to market as the fastest-ever-produced model in the 60-year history of the British brand.
The new MINI John Cooper Works GP features a powerful four-cylinder turbocharged engine, unique, custom-tuned chassis technology, and an aerodynamically optimized exterior appearance. The day MINI owners have been waiting for since July 2018 has finally arrived. MINI USA today announced the return of MINI TAKES THE STATES (MTTS) in 2020. The legendary MINI owners rally will take place from July 18 – 26, 2020. MTTS is one of the most anticipated events amongst the MINI community, with previous rallies occurring every other summer since 2006. The route for MTTS 2020 will be announced at a later date.
“The MINI community is the lifeblood of our brand, so we are extremely excited to once again host this amazing rally experience,” said Mike Peyton, Vice President, MINI of the Americas. “MINI owners love two things, in particular – driving and being part of the MINI community. There is no better way to celebrate the drive in all of us, than to rally once again through America’s backroads and byways. MTTS 2018 attracted more than 3,600 MINI owners who took part in the Rally to the Rockies, with 1,000+ MINIs on the road each day. The two groups drove on two separate routes, one starting in Orlando, Fla., and the other in Portland, Ore., converging in Keystone, Colo., for a three-day festival of all things MINI. The group of loyal MINI owners travelled a total of more than 5,000 miles through 15 cities and 14 states. At times the group swelled to more than 1,000 owners and 500 vehicles of all shapes, colors and sizes on each route.

MINI USA and Best Friends Animal Society will celebrate their ongoing partnership this Saturday, October 26, with a “pup-up” event, dubbed “MINI of Mutthattan”, at the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in New York City. The pup-up event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., will offer fee waived adoptions of dogs and cats courtesy of MINI USA in honor of Best Friend’s annual Strut Your Mutt Day. The special adoption event will celebrate the two brands and their DRIVE to Save Them All®.
MINI USA and Best Friends have been closely aligned since 2013, with multiple dealers supporting Strut Your Mutt events each year across the country. MINI USA also provides Best Friends with a fleet of MINI Countryman to use for animal rescue, vet visits and adoption days. In 2014, Best Friends was the charitable partner for MINI TAKES THE STATES, MINI USA’s biennial owners rally, where proceeds from the registration fee went to support Best Friends and owners made personal contributions and fundraised on the road.
